[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The new year has much in store for Perimeter. From new road interchanges to construction milestones, here are five projects in the pipeline for the Perimeter area that will impact your business in 2019:   

1. Breaking Ground: The Abernathy Diverging Diamond Interchange 

Construction crews will kick off work this spring on the complete overhaul of the Abernathy Road interchange at GA-400. The makeover will mirror that of Ashford Dunwoody over I-285, with a lane alignment underneath GA-400 to better move vehicles on and off GA-400. During construction, expect lane shifts and other modifications during weekdays, with nighttime and weekend lane closures as needed.  

2. The 400 Bus Rapid Transit Line One Step Closer to Reality 

In 2018 the State of Georgia committed seriously to transit, putting forward funding for significant projects including $100 million in bonds to support Bus Rapid Transit along GA-400. While the project will not break ground for a couple of years, 2019 is when public and stakeholder engagement inform the selection of station locations and other details. In other words, the details of one of the most significant transit investments into the market in two decades will be decided.   

 3. State Farm Park Center Phase II On Track For 2019 Completion 

While some projects are gearing up, others will be wrapping up in 2019, including State Farm’s Park Center Phase II, a 22-story, 670,000 square-foot building. The building consolidates thousands of employees currently spread across multiple properties in the area. The development continues to set a high standard for pedestrian and transit access, including a recently completed pedestrian bridge that creates direct access from Park Center II to Park Center I and the Dunwoody MARTA station.  

4. Mt. Vernon Bridge Construction Wraps Final Phase 

In a project of the scale of the I-285/GA-400 reconstruction, milestones are essential. One of the first major milestones for completion of the project will be met in 2019, as the Mt. Vernon bridge modifications finish their two-stage development. This achievement will mark the first fully completed segment of the interchange project and fundamental live traffic improvement.  

5. The Evolution of Mobility 

Not all changes to the area this year will involve orange cones. Transportation has evolved rapidly in the last five years, thanks to smartphone ownership fueling the rise of ridehailing services like Uber and Lyft and the billion-dollar scootershare industry. Ridehailing companies are investing heavily in scooters, bikes, autonomous vehicles, and integration with transit systems. Expect to see all of these technologies taking considerable steps forward in 2019 and don’t be surprised if even more innovations break into the mobility landscape as well.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
