[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”9504″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will open a new Abernathy Road Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) traffic pattern underneath State Route (SR) 400 between the northbound and southbound ramps requiring consecutive day traffic impacts. This DDI moves motorists to the opposite side of the road to easily access SR 400 ramps or to continue along Abernathy Road.
Beginning Thursday, April 13, through Monday, April 17, while the DDI is being implemented, motorists will have continuous access from Abernathy Road eastbound to SR 400 southbound, SR 400 northbound to Abernathy Road eastbound, Abernathy Road westbound to SR 400 northbound, and SR 400 southbound to Abernathy Road westbound. There will be no left turns or through traffic allowed. Advanced signage will help drivers navigate the DDI roadway and ramp configurations. Traffic pacing at the SR 400 ramps is needed during the multiday implementation plan for nighttime and weekend work, allowing for striping and other construction activities.
Motorists should pay close attention to the new roadway configuration. Click here to view how the new Abernathy DDI will flow.
