Transform 285/400 to begin Phase 2 of I-285 Bridge Reconstruction – I-285 Eastbound beginning Sunday, Feb. 26

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]To further advance I-285 bridge reconstruction as part of the Transform 285/400 project, the contractor for the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) will implement the initial stage of Phase 2 traffic pattern changes along I-285 eastbound over Glenridge Drive and State Route (SR) 400. During Phase 1 of bridge reconstruction, contractors closed lanes on I-285 eastbound and westbound so that they could begin bridge demolition and reconstruction of the interior portions of the bridges over Glenridge Drive, SR 400, and Peachtree Dunwoody Road.

Beginning this weekend, I-285 eastbound traffic will shift to the inside lanes on the new bridges over Glenridge Drive and SR 400. While crews are implementing this initial step of Phase 2, a continuous weekend lane closure will be in effect from Friday, February 24, to Sunday, February 26 on I-285 eastbound between Glenridge Drive and Peachtree Dunwoody Road.

This initial step of Phase 2 will allow crews to demolish and reconstruct the exterior portions of the I-285 bridges over Glenridge Drive and SR 400 in the eastbound direction. The same approach will follow on I-285 westbound within two weeks.

The final step in Phase 2 bridge reconstruction will shift traffic to the inside lanes on the new structure over Peachtree Dunwoody Road in the next few weeks, to allow the demolition and reconstruction of the exterior portion of that bridge. This step-by-step approach will allow construction crews to progress the work on all three I-285 bridges.

During these lane shifts, three lanes in each direction will remain open during the daytime hours, with the potential for additional overnight lane closures, which would further reduce available travel lanes.

WHEN: Starting Friday, Feb. 24 at 11 p.m. to Sunday, Feb. 26 at 9 a.m.

WHERE: Continuous Weekend Lane Closure – One right lane on I-285 eastbound from Glenridge Drive to Peachtree Dunwoody Road

Motorists traveling on I-285 eastbound will be reduced to two lanes starting at Glenridge Drive to Peachtree Dunwoody Road.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Click here for more information.
